Henniker is located in Merrimack County, New Hampshire.  It is situated 26 miles from Manchester and 79 miles from Boston.  The Contoocook River runs through the center of town, and is surrounded by hills and mountains.

Henniker is home to Ames State Forest and Craney Hill State Forest.  It is also home to New England College.  The town is part of the New Hampshire School Administrative Unit #24. 

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Henniker was home to 4,433 residents.  This included 1,585 households and 1,019 families.  The average family size was 3.09 and the average household size was 2.23.  Henniker is comprised of 116.1 square miles of land and 1.8 square miles of water.
