Nottingham is located in Rockingham County, New Hampshire. It contains fourteen lakes and ponds. Nottingham is located 24 miles from Manchester and once included the towns of Deerfield and Northwood. Recreational opportunities include fishing, boating, snowmobiling, bicycling and cross-country skiing. Nottingham is also home to Pawtuckaway State Park, which includes hiking trails, campgrounds, a mountaintop fire tower, a marsh and a field with large glacial boulders. Nottingham is home to many old and historic buildings dating back to the 1800’s. Nottingham’s town hall, originally referred to as the Town House, was built in 1856. The town’s Grand Hall, originally a church, was built in 1841. The Dame Center School was built in the early 1800’s. According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Nottingham’s population at the time was 4,490 people. This included 1,331 households and 1,048 families. The average family size was 3.08 and the average household size was 2.78. Nottingham is comprised of 48.4 square miles of land and 1.9 square miles of water.
