Bennington is located in Bennington County, Vermont and serves as the main gateway to southwestern Vermont.  It is the third largest city in Vermont and is Bennington County’s urban, commercial and industrial center.   Bennington is situated along Routes 9 and 7 and is adjacent to Massachusetts and New York.

Bennington his home to three historic districts:  Old Bennington, Downtown Bennington and North Bennington.  It is also home to the tallest structure in the state, the Bennington Battle Monument.

Bennington Vermont was home to 15,737 residents, according to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau.  This included 6,162 households and 3,863 families.  Bennington Vermont is comprised of 42.4 square miles of land and 0.1 square miles of water.
